Staff Accountant

Summary

The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs general and cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
  • Maintains the general ledger.
  • Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
  • Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
  • Reconciles bank accounts, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
  • Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
  • Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Maintains accurate accounting record of inventory system.
  • Manages the invoicing system.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

  • Knowledge of general financial and cost accounting.
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Supervisory responsibilities (what positions are supervised):

This position does not supervise others

Work environment (need to describe environment and possible exposure to any hazardous materials):

  • Assembly area – possible exposure to chemicals and electrical

Physical demands (how long standing/sitting; repetitive actions; lifting requirements; ladder; etc):

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds
  • Ability to lift, bend, stretch

Travel required:

  • Less than 5%

Required education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
  • 5+ years experience in accounting department conducting general accounting duties, heavy in cash accounting.
  • 3+ years experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 F & O in manufacturing environment.
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification minimum

Preferred education and experience:

  • MBA or Master’s Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing Accounting
  • Expert in MS Dynamics365.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification

Work authorization/security clearance requirements:

Must be eligible to work in the United States
